Simply stunning! Stone floors, soaring ceilings, Egyptian cotton, and all off grid…nothing was spared! The photos, while accurate, simply do not do this property justice!
The owners answered every query promptly, accurately and completely. They were very flexible tailoring this stay to us, accommodating special diets and special requests. They traveled from Santo Domingo to meet us personally with a champagne toast under a candle lit Dominican Christmas tree. It just kept getting better from there! There are not enough words to express how personal, and professional Las Caracolas is. Huge comfortable beds, views soaring out to the ocean, hot water, beautifully appointed kitchen, a meditation room, beautifully landscaped grounds…
This pales, though, next to the staff’s service. I could not have imagined their hospitality in a million years. Every detail is attended to without fuss, from delicious traditional breakfasts served al fresco to «pecadillas» appearing magically next to your lounge chair next to the ocean. Dinners were served in the formal dining room, all typical foods (per our request) prepared using only local seasonal ingredients. Grilled lobster, ceviche, avocado salad, and I promise the most delicious rice you will ever eat! Be sure to ask for mashed ‘yamis’ with your breakfast!
Isabel is an outstanding chef, and runs the house seamlessly. Jesus always had fresh cocos ready to be opened as a healthy, hydrating drink. Dianelis was my personal shopper and guide through the food markets. Papito attended us each evening with any late night requests we had. I am grateful we had plenty of school supplies along for their children to show how much we appreciated their fine service.
My only regret is not following Hans’ advice to allow them to bring food from the city. The food was superb, but I was not fair to Isabel, limiting the food she had available to work with. Surprisingly, local groceries do truly have a very limited supply of fresh food, especially produce. I would follow his advice.
If you have the opportunity, this property is a «must stay»! Hans and Claudia, with their extraordinary staff, run what is destined to become a highly sought after accommodation. I cannot recommend it strongly enough.
